Shaping the Heroes of Tomorrow
Gettysburg Fire Department’s Junior Firefighter Program provides youth aged 14-17 with the unique opportunity to receive training, respond to emergencies, and acquire experience in firefighting, rescue, and EMS activities in a safe, educational, and fun environment. Junior Firefighters learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, responsibility, and commitment.
What You’ll Do*
Provide direct support to your community
Practice first aid
Maintain firefighting gear
Wash and inspect trucks
Participate in firefighting drills
Respond to emergency calls
Participate in monthly departmental training
Complete state-certified courses
